Missing my Father today
As always, I am recalling something my father did that changed my life or made me smile. Today is certainly no acception. When I was a little girl, my father would take me on long tractor rides around our grounds. We had such a beautiful property and people would stop by, from miles around, just to see my dad's handywork. If the onlookers had small children, my dad would take them along also, and make the childrens' day! He was such a thoughtful, caring person, who loved children dearly. I am remembering his glistening smile against the background of cross-bred roses in our backyard. I miss you so much Dad; my heart aches to hold you again. Your loving Daughter.

Winter is closing in
Today, as winter is closing in on my Midwest town, I am reminded, once again, of how much I hate the darkening days, the cold, and most importantly, the holidays without my father. It was such a joy to have him with us for the holidays. He made our Christmases the most perfect time of the year. He would get up on Christmas Eve morn, have his coffee, and set out on his annual shopping extravaganza that lasted until the stores closed. We all knew that something wonderful would await us on Christmas morning. What an amazing man he was; the void in my life, from his passing, can never be filled. I have tried to pass on his good heart by living as he did. By doing so, I keep his legacy alive and well, not just for my family, but for me.

[grief] hurts today
There are days when grief simply hurts. Today is one of those days. You can't do anything about it; You can't fight it; you can't reach out and talk. It just simply hurts. I really hate when I get this hollow feeling, a hole so deep in my chest, that it goes straight through me. I want to see my father today. The urge is so strong and painful. We had the best conversations and laughs; he taught me to live. Grief has been whittling away at my life's breath. I miss you so much today, Dad. I love you always.
